Jörg Vianden is Associate Professor for Student Affairs Administration (SAA) at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Aside from teaching graduate-level courses in student affairs and higher education, Jörg is a researcher, speaker, and consultant. He has 15 years of experience teaching in college settings and more than 10 years experience as a student affairs professional at four different large public research universities.
Originally from Bonn, Germany, Jörg completed his undergraduate degree in English at Luther College (IA), his master’s degree in Higher Education at The University of Iowa, and his doctorate in Higher Education and Student Affairs at Indiana University.
Before transitioning to the faculty, Jörg worked as a residence life professional at four different institutions, starting as a hall director at Iowa State University. He also served Indiana University as an area director and the University of Oregon as Associate Director for Residence Life. In his final administrative post as Associate Director for University Housing at the University of Arkansas, Jörg was responsible for all academic initiatives, which included living-learning communities, a residential curriculum, and a faculty in residence program.
In 2014, Dr. Vianden was awarded with one of six campus-wide UW-La Crosse Provost Teaching Excellence awards.
In 2015, Dr. Vianden's article "Mind the Gap" was selected as the Robert P. Cooke Talking Stick Article of the Year by ACUHO-I.
